At 8 pm Saturday evening my wife, Martha Krueger, saw a cougar sitting on the edge of our yard on the South Shore of Lake Quinault. We watched from our upstairs window as It slowly strolled across the yard until it becane obscured behind our shed. We walked out our front door to see where it went - suddenly we saw it watching us from our sauna porch 50 feet away where it was sitting. I snapped a picture and it stood up and raised it's tail and became more alert. I wished I was closer to the house at tis point. We decided it was time to scare it away and drove our 4runner around the sauna and it took off into the salmonberry on the edge of our property. Calling our neighbors afterwards we discovered that pet cats,chickens, peacocks and ducks had all been killed in the last few days. Now we are constantly looking over our shoulders as we walk around our house. An authorized Washington State Fish and Game cougar hunter came out today but failed to locate it.

And not to mention it was getting extrememly close to people. Your destroying habitat just as much as any of us. And you tell me that you wouldn't destroy a cougar if it was roaming downtown Seattle and stalking people and pets? Yeah think twice.

How pathetic to destroy a creature looking for food while fat pets and people destroy its habitat. That is a true crime against nature. Where is the cougar supposed to find food when people destroy their sources?

It was destroyed 2 days after this posting. It was found to be extremely skinny. It was roughly 5.5 feet long and a female

Yes... They will do a fish hook and come back right at you... They are one dangerous animal... I am a licensed hunter and have seen many out hunting and they are stockers not stockies...

Cougars will stock a person for several days, go for the kill when you have forgotten about them. I grew up in Montana as children we were taught early not to lose sight of the fact that we lived with wild animals and we were to stay alert 24/7
