Longboarding enthusiast travels across America, arriving in Jefferson City on Wednesday June 5th
Jake Freed of Phoenix, Arizona is taking his love of skateboarding to a whole new level. On May 1st Jake left his home in Phoenix Arizona to travel across America on his longboard. With nothing but a tent, sleeping bag, and a few necessities in his backpack Jake has already passed through four states and entered Missouri on June 2nd. Jake will travel over 2,700 miles during his two month journey, with his final destination being Washington D.C., arriving the week of July 4th.
Traveling across the country on a skateboard has been a dream of Jake’s for several years. “I’m putting my love of the sport, my stubbornness, and strong will to good use! I want to inspire others to get out from in front of the TV, get outside and take advantage of this life. No more excuses about transportation or fitness, just get out there and ride!”
The trip has had some scary moments, chasing or being chased by storms in Kansas has been nerve racking on Jake as well as his followers on facebook, but his optimistic outlook has never wavered. Perhaps the greatest part of the entire trip is meeting so many caring people along the way. “Every stop I make I meet great people who are curious about what I’m doing, and want to help. From free meals and places to stay to keeping an eye out on the weather along the trip, people have really been taking care of me, it’s been amazing.”
Jake is traveling along Route 54, arriving in Jefferson City Wednesday June 5th.
