Monster Nationals 1/24/09 Accident

Channel: News

Location: Alliant Energy Center - Madison, WI

The attached video shows footage of tonight's Monster National event at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. All was going well with the show, until after intermission and just before the conclusion (we were actually packing up to leave to beat the crowd). Two monster trucks were in the semi-finals of a "racing" event -- meaning they assembled at a starting line, then gunned their engines to see which vehicle could get across a barrier of 4 smashed cars the fastest.

After the short race ended, the trucks were circling back to the holding area, when it seemed that the announcer was stuck by the truck called Samson. We were two rows back from the arena floor, and a barricade obstructed our view so we didn't see the man get hit. The ambulance came quickly and then a shaky-voiced man announced that the show would end. Our prayers are with the injured person, the event drivers and other personnel tonight.

It was definitely freaky. If I wanted to see stuff like this I would've stayed in the military.

George Eisenhart, Jr. isthe promotor who got killed. He lives here in Chardon, OH. His father is our best friend. This is a tragedy of epic proportions for us. There is no peace today.

I saw everything the second he stepped out of the walkway from section 315. I pray that he is ok and feel such pain and sadness for his family. He just had time to absorb his surroundings no time to react. It seemed almost not real and in slow motion.

That was one of the most awful things I have seen. I was on the opposite side high up and saw it in slow motion. I also have had a heck of a time getting that image out of my head.

our prayers go out to Eisenhart's family and the Monster nationals association. This is tragedy. I feel lucky to have been watching the kids, they loved the show, but the mood and emotions quickly changed to concern and shock for G.Eisenhart.

We went Friday night and he seemed like a very nice guy. Making a career out of entertaining and interacting with children is very commendable. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

i dont understand how this could have happened, those trucks are very loud. How can someone just walk out in front of a big truck like that? Its a sad thing what happen, but no one is to blame but him
