Three members of the Rising Stars of Roanoke Baton Corps recently competed at the Miss Majorette of Virginia baton twirling competition in Newport News, Virginia and all three qualified to compete in the Miss Majorette of America competition. McKenna Luzynski, a rising 8th grader at Cave Spring Middle School, won the Pre-teen Advanced Miss Majorette of Virginia title and Kristina Henry, a rising Junior at Hidden Valled High School, won the Junior Intermediate Miss Majorette of Virginia competition. Kasia Luzynski, who is the Feature Twirler at Cave Spring High School, will represent Virginia in the Advanced Junior Miss Majorette of America cempetition. The twirlers will travel to Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana in mid-July for the national competition.
In late-June, the Rising Stars also competed at the Virginia State Twirling Championships. They won first place in the Beginner Junior Twirl Team competition, and third place in the Advanced Junior Dance Twirl competition.
