The following story is about my son, Anthony Woodyard, a student at Giles High School.

Giles High School student Anthony Woodyard traveled to John S. Battle High School this past Friday to perform in the Virginia Choral Director's Association district VII Chorus with 6 other students from GHS. While there, he, along with many other young musicians auditioned for All-Virginia Chorus. To be eligible, students must have made the cut to participate in All-districts and undergo a second audition consisiting of a rehearsed piece and a challenging sight-reading score. Anthony blazed triumphantly through his audition and placed first in the Bass II section to represent southwest Virgina at the state level in April in Fredricksburg. The Giles County community and southwest Virginia is very proud of him. Anthony is extremly grateful for this opportunity to further his musical experience and is glad to see that music and the arts are alive and well in southewest Virginia despite tough economic times.
