WHAT A MAN, WHAT A NIGHT!!!
The concert was awesome as usual, Keith put on the perfect show just like every year but...after the concert was the coolest. My son, Chris, is the biggest Keith Urban fan. After the concert we waited out back just to get a closer view and the possibility of a hand-shake or autograph. We waited for two hours, his bus is backing out, Keith pokes his head out of the window and waves. Me, 34 years old, and my son runs to my 04 pontiac grand prix. We jump in and begin to follow the bus. There are two buses, one for Keith and one for the band. Which do we follow, maybe he switched. We took a chance! The on ramp was closed to I-40 east so they went down Reno, we were hot on their tail. We followed them all the while speeding up to get a look inside the bus to see if we could see him. Keith is setting up front with his driver. We slow down and get beside them, they decide to turn so I flipped a u-turn and followed. After going through this, for what seemed like forever but was really the sum of thirty minutes or less, the bus pulled into a parking lot. We continued to follow but at a small distance because I did not want to be rude, afterall people bother celebrities all the time and they are quite rude about it. They pull into the steak and shake across from Tinker AFB. I pulled in and parked. We argued about who was going to get out, one of us. We saw the door of the bus open and a man get out. I told my son, "It is now or never". We got out, stood in line behind this man (the bus driver) and I was trying to think of a polite way to ask if we could meet Keith when he turned around and said, "Keith and I have been watching you ever since we left and you are amusing". I was so embarrassed but hey...it was for my son. I asked the ultimate question and the driver said he would ask. Mind you here it is 1 am and Keith has just done a show and is on his way for three days in Texas. My son and I sat down and waited patiently. The driver leaves, I was doubting, then I saw my sons face as he looked at me and looked out the door. In walked Keith Urban. My 15 year old stood up like a man and stuck out his hand as he met Keith halfway. I almost cried. I had never seen my son act so big and look the part and I never thought that Keith Urban would meet my son and myself. I never asked for a picture, afterall he shook my sons hand and talked to him for a few minutes, I thought that was enough but...Keith asked if we would like pictures and an autograph. Of course we said YES!! He signed my sons concert ticket and we took photos. The waitress there brought out their food and said,"I will go get your shakes, hang on". When she came back out and looked up she just about fainted. She met Keith and she did not have a camera so I took a picture of her, got her address and sent it to her. It was the most amazing night and I got to share it with my son. Thanks to the bus driver and to Keith Urban--you both are just awesome!!! Charlotte Walters, Yukon, OK
