Ozark International Raceway held its final Shootout race of the 2007 season this weekend. The Shootout races bring in racers from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and all over the state of Missouri.
NHRA Top Fuel driver Scott Palmer was at the track with his pro mod corvette, along with Scott Holdridge with his jet dragster Black Ice. Holdridge made two exhibition runs Saturday night.
Track owner Wes Phifer started holding a Midnight Drags event once a month to try to bring more street racers to the track. Cars must have regular DOT tires and mufflers. This event has been a big success especially with the younger crowd. They can race from midnight till 3:00 a.m. safely and legally. Just maybe it will keep someone from being hurt or worse illegally street racing.
The track is open every Friday to anyone who would like to bring there car out and race.
