12–year–old Kmar Detor was at the right place at the right time to make a difference in one toddler's life. Saturday was a normal day at the beach for Kmar, who was playing with friends and family at Ypao Beach. But while he was in the ocean, he noticed something that didn't seem right. He saw his cousin floating in the water unconscious.
"I went close to him then I thought he was swimming, but when I picked him up blood and bubbling was coming out of his mouth," Detor said.
Although lifeguards at Ypao Beach told police CPR was not needed for the toddler because they saw him hugging Kmar, the boy hero tells a different story.
"I picked him up and then put him on the sand and then kind of cry and then I did the CPR. I didn't blow from the mouth, I just went like that one time and then water just came out and then he started breathing again," the boy said.
There's no doubt in Kmar's mind that if the situation were to ever present itself again, he would do the same. When he's not saving lives though, Kmar says he lives life just like any other 12 year old.
"I really usually just stay in the house and play games and watch T.V.," said Detor.
