Tracking down Oklahoma's waterfalls for the Oklahoma Waterfall Study isn't easy work. It's not all fun and games, it can be alot of hard work to find a waterfall in Oklahoma. No matter what the weather is, Mike Rinehart, The Wolf Traveler is out searching for waterfalls.
After driving for hour or hours and hours, talking to locals. A short hike or it could be long hikes through mountians, and canyons 5, 6, or more miles. Through rain, or hot sun, packing cameras, rope, water and measuring equipment. Most of the time with his traveling k-9 campanion Bouncer, sometimes his wife and another person who's come to give a hand. Just getting to the waterfall location is just half of the work, after finding the waterfall, the rest of the work begins. Measurements have to be takin of hieght, and usaually to obtain this, a rope has to be tied off securely and Mike has to hang outward over the ridge of the waterfall and drop the tape to take the measurement, Usually this hieght is around 40ft or less.
But the last few days, Mike has been out documenting a number of waterfalls, of which, several were like Cherokee Falls at 53ft, Flint Falls at 87ft and another confidental waterfall at a grand 109ft. YES, this is taller than the tallest Oklahoma falls. The location is on private land and respect for the landowner, no information isn't being released at this time .

Sometimes it's a disappointment not really finding what he expected, but usually the hard work pays off. After getting the measurements, Mike has to either climb down or hike around to photograph the waterfall.
Several waterfall locations The Wolf Traveler is working to secure money to purchase land around the waterfalls to both conserve these areas and share them with others, as a park such as Natural Falls St. Park.
