AS all of you know Memorial day was a great day for fishing. My family and myself went down to Grand river below Pennsicola dam.Fishing started off slow until I managed to hook this baby spoonie. It was a promising start. The day went by and we had a great time talking and meeting new friends in the process. But no fish???? I was walking up to my truck to answer my phone when I heard the sliding of little feet across the rocks down by the river. I turned to see my sons white face as he tried to crank the poll up on what looked to be a great spoonie!!! I ran down and grabbed him around the waist as he cranked the fish in. 10 minutes later the fished worked his way down river and managed to get hung up in a tree that had just fallen in a recent storm. So there we were, big ol' spoonie on the line and hung up. Well.... A fathers love prevailed, in the river I went and swam out to the tree to unhook the fish from the limb and brought him the rest of the way in. Don't believe me??? Just look at the picture, I am the one that soaked. Take your kids fishing!!! There is nothing like watching your childs eyes as that fish came in. He was so proud of what he had done! All in all it was a great weekend. His fish weighed in at a little over 65 pounds!!!!
