The City of Columbia's new Online Payment System is a nightmare for Landlord's and Property Manager's. For each address or account that you want to make a payment on, there is a $4.60 service charge for paying online. Let's say you're paying on 30 accounts or properties, that means if you want to pay those accounts online, even in one payment transaction, you're going to have to pay an additional online service charge of $138.00 because you're making that payment online. What's the cost of a check and stamp to send the payment via snail mail? Maybe $0.75? I thought paying online was supposed to be the quicker and cheaper solution, as well as the greener solution, than paying bills the "old fashioned" way of writing checks and putting them in the mail. Looks like I'll be cutting down some more trees for paper checks and envelopes and keeping my postal worker employed when paying future utility bills here in Columbia.
Online Utility Payment Charge Unreal!
