Secret Shopper Scam in Mid Missouri

Dear KMOU news,
My husband recieved a letter with a check in the mail a few days back. It was about being a secret Shopper for this area.
He had signed up a few years back to take part in such a group and thought it was now just getting to him.
I was very worried how the letter was stated and the amount of funds involed . We knew something was not right so we looked online about this company on the BBB web site . The letter stated they were apart of the BBB site but the site had no contection to them . I decided to take it to my local bank to have it checked out. They investigated it and found it to be a scam. I was wanting to let your viewer be aware of a new scam in the mid Missouri area so hopefully no one falls prey to this scam. I have sent you a copy of the letter, envelope and the very real looking check. Notice all the addresses are different. There is a chance this could of been cashed and we would of fell prey to this. Thanks to gut feelings we were saved. Likethe old saying goes, If something seems to good to be true it probably is. My husband said when he called the number to active the check a women answered (he voice seemed of middle eastern decent) He asked for the man that was on the letter. She stated he was out of the office and the check was activated and to call back in 24 hours for futher instructions.
