ROSWELL- Critical condition turned to fatal condition when a man died of his injuries he sustained in Saturday night's violent car accident. And now Police officials are saying that the man never saw it coming.
Saturday night, Roswell Police say a 17 year old female was traveling west bound on Second Street, when she rear-ended a man on a motorcycle as he began to accelerate from a green light. It is unknown how fast the girl was traveling.
"She apparently didn't see the man on the motorcycle in front of her" said Officer Mealand of the Roswell Police Department. Mealand didn't make reference to wether or not charges would be filed against the minor driver.
The rider of the motorcycle is a 55 year old hispanic male that lives in Roswell. Police aren't releasing his identity pending the notification of next of kin.
The scene was very hectic as witnesses and bystanders came from all directions to assist the victim.
One of those witnesses was Sarah Martinez, a carhop at the Sonic at Second and Sunset. Martinez is currently attending school for her Emergency Medical Technician-Basic certification.
Witnesses tell us that despite the graphic brutality of the scene, Martinez was very professional and caring while at the victim's side.
"Sarah was amazing. She knew what to look for, what to say. For someone that probably knew he wasn't going to survive, you sure couldn't tell" said a witness traveling through from Oklahoma that didn't want to be identified.
Martinez plans to complete all education requirements to gain her Paramedic certification.
Roswell Police have confirmed that drugs and alcohol did not play a part in the accident.
