ROSWELL- What seemed to be a routine Saturday night at the new Sonic on west Second street was anything but routine when the store was robbed at gunpoint.
At about 7:30pm, witnesses say a man entered the store with a handgun, and put it to the back of a carhop's head and demanded money. Details are still sketchy at this time, but initial reports from the scene indicate the suspect took money from each carhop, and even assaulted the manager on-duty.
Shortly after police arrived on scene, the Pecos Valley Dispatch recieved a call from the Lawrence Brother's IGA at Second and Union Streets, advising that security had a subject in the store matching the description of the robbery suspect. Police, were on scene quickly, but soon discovered that they had the wrong person. Roswell Police Department was unavailable for comment at the time this story was submitted.
