Every year on Christmas day, my wife and I wake up bright and early, gather up our gifts and head to the heights to eat and open presents with the in-laws. After the mountains of wrapping paper have been cleaned up and everyone is slipping into a coma from a cocktail of Frontier sweet rolls, farmer's casserole and mimosas, my wife and I say our goodbyes and head over to Corrales for a more subdued Christmas experience with my family.
Just as we began another round of gift exchanging, the sun began to make it's descent in to the western horizon. The thin, patchy clouds turned the suns light into liquid gold which poured over the Sandias. I just had to grab my camera and run out to the backyard to catch the fleeting moment.
It's moments like these that make you realize how no amount of gifts can ever amount to the gift of life in this beautiful state!
