We live in Cleveland, NM and about a two weeks ago we had about 30 to 40 orioles in our yard. We never had them before. They were drinking from our feeders. They are now gone, but we enjoyed having for a couple of weeks. We wait for their return next year.

I believe that your photo is of a Black-headed Grosbeak. The beak itself is the giveaway. Beautiful birds.

I live in ABQ and saw a bright yellow and red bird a couple of weeks ago. Did not know what it was but very similar to this fellow. Saw the same type around this time last year. Nice to know they are coming through.

teretoons: If the body was bright yellow and the head bright red, It was probably a Western Tanager. I saw one yesterday up in Four Hills. You can go to Google, images, and type in western tanager. It is one of the brightest birds in the area.
