I am a disabled vet who lost my 2 4 legged kids (schipperke's) within 31 days of each oter in 2007. When I lost my boy to cancer 3/29/07, I thought the sun wouldn't rise. I got online and started checking out breeders because I wanted the same breed. I found some puppies almost ready to be weaned from a wonderful breeder in Ohio. I was able to purchase a pup but he wouldn't be available until May 2nd. After all the contract signing and buying all the new baby stuff to prepare for his arrival, my female ended up passing on May 1st. I was devasted. I had had then both for 26 years and I felt like there was no life without them. I had never, not had a dog. Even in the military I worked K-9 so I had my dog then too. But thankfully this little boy who looked like a bear cub arrived. He was a day late being shipped because of weather but he finally arrived. He saved my life. I couldn't even get out of bed then day after Mariah died. But at midnight the next night, his flight came in at midnight and then I found out that it didn;t matter if the sun rose or not. When he scream for food, you ran to feed him, when he wanted to play, you played. Yup a new man in the house and he thought I was just going to roll over and do things his way. Yeah right! I showed him who the boss was. It didn't really take any tme at all to get thigs straightened out. Now when he's hungry, I run to get his food. When he wants to play, I run to play. He just thought he was gonna pull the wool over my eyes. :) But that's ok, I have a plan up my sleeve. I hopefully have a little girl coming in about July. The females are the alpha dogs in this breed and I can't wait for her to whip him in shape. As for me? I'm just gonna try and rest before she gets here. These dogs only have 2 speeds. They are either going 100 MPH or asleep. And as far as the sun is concerned, They'll have me running sun or no sun and I can't wait!
