Here is an interesting swine flu story. Last Wed., 7/15/09 I went to the Dr. feeling very bad. I could not see the Dr. as he was busy. but saw the Nurse Practitioner. She gave me a 5 day antibiotic, which did no good. I went back on Monday, 7/ 20/09. I asked him if he thought it could be the swine flu and he said we should definitely eliminate that. The nurse called the health dept to ask where you get the test. She was to call me as soon as she heard. Of course I received no call I called her back today, and she said the health dept. had not called (That's why she didn't call) I asked her if she cared about her patients to at least keep them updated, she said of course, but she would have called if she did. Now I am on Tamiflu and nothing has changed. My son called around today at the various clinics and found out that there is no place you can go for the test. I don't know if this is true or not, but I certainly don't know what to do now. I still have the fever, cough, chills, achy bones, and the other symtoms of flu after 2 days on the Tamiflu. I really can't believe you can't get a test in Jasper Co. I need your help to research this out. Is there a place to go? If there isn't, with an epidemic coming why isn't there? Anything you find out would be appreciated as I really don't want to die.

If you have a diagnosis or not, the treatment is the same, plenty of fluids, control the fever with tylenol or motrin (alternate both) and rest. Control the symptoms. Care is supportive!!!
