Gary Lewis emailed us these photos of the October 8, 2008 crash on Interstate 44 south of Joplin, Missouri.

Heavy fog was initially being blamed for the initial crash, and then the chain reaction.

Eight vehicles melted together, and as Lewis writes of the photos "keep in mind that what you are looking at is THREE semi's"

I was looking for my teachers car, and you can see it in the background....she's burnt pretty bad.
