Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger designated April as “Month of the Military Child” and yet it is rarely celebrated and recognized as much as it should be. April is a perfect time to recognize the sacrifices of these little heroes and applaud their courage. Little Rock AFB, Arnold Drive Elementary School, and Kids of Americas Heroes are moving aggressively to make “Month of the Military Child” a traditional April celebration in the schools and now on Little Rock AFB. We began with a week-long series of small activities for the students of Arnold Drive Elementary School, from fence decorating to classroom ribbon crafts, and then proudly ending with a spectacular fair celebration. With over 250 military children, April is an important month for us.

The fair started off with a special performance sung byt the Arnold Drive Elementary School Pre-K and Kindergarten students. Throught the two hour celebration, the families could participate in a variety of games and entertainment, such as a Sack Race, Cakes Walk, Bean Bag Toss, Face Painting, and more!

The fair was proudly sponsored by Arnold Drive Elementary School, Kids of Americas Heroes, and the base-wide military organizations. Supporting businesses included First Arkansas Bank & Trust, Arkansas Federal Credit Union, CiCi's Pizza, McMinn Eye Care, Attentive Hands Massage, AETN, Robby the C-130, and Wick-ed Scentsations Candles.

We want to thank each and every volunteer and supporting company who has made this exciting event possible. Together we can make this an amazing yearly tradition and help recognize exactly what "Month of the Military Child" really means.

We look forward to next year's Month of the Military Child Fair!
