The Lady Bombers gave it a “good run” on a warm & hilly GCT XC course but came just 5 points short of defeating the host team. After GCT got out fast, the Lady Bombers trailed and had to play “chase” through the two loop course. While the Bombers caught some, we just ran out of real estate! Samantha Mohler notch the victory with a very fast 20:23 for the 5K. Nicole Bolt running her very first 5K placed 5th while Lacy Hollingsworth placed 9th. Shelby Frazier ran her best time by 1:00 while Jessica Wehmeyer ran her best by 1:09. Green County Tech-33 MH-38
The young and inexperienced Bombers ran 15 all time bests so it was not a surprise for the team to place 3rd out of 10 teams. Wil Norris paced the Bombers with an 8th place finish. The top 9 runners for the Bombers were only separated by 1:56 and a team will always do well with that close of finishes. Michael Erixon, Michael Osswald, Costin Hoffman, Forrest Lowery & corbin mortensen all ran Personal Bests by over 2 minutes!
The MS/Jh boys placed 3rd in their division as well. Matt Walker was the Bomber’s top finisher placing 12th on the 1.5 mile course. His time was 1:21 faster than his best. Jarvis Bailey & Kevin Hand also improved their times by over a minute.
Kelsie Harris was the Junior Lady Bombers top finisher placing 2nd with an outstanding time of 9:49 for the 1.5 mile course. The Junior Lady Bombers placed 4th in their division. Their score actually was the same as Batesville SouthSide’s. To break a tie in Cross Country, the team with the best 6th runner wins. The Junior Lady Bombers had only 5 finishers on the day so that is why BSS would finish 3rd and we finish 4th.
Our next race in the Bomber Invitational next Thursday! It is shaping up to be quite a meet!
