It’s a home run for the Minnesota Twins and Habitat for Humanity of Lee County. The baseball team presented Habitat for Humanity of Lee County with a check for $8,000 on March 6th at the start of their spring training game at Hammond Stadium. The team raised money for the organization on February 24th, with the Twins & Pins for Habitat Bowling Tournament. 24 lanes were filled at the Gator Lanes Bowling Alley in Fort Myers as local businesses such as White House/Black Market, Steven's Construction, Fort Myers/Naples Greyhound Track and Preferred Community Bank sponsored lanes to bowl alongside the Minnesota Twins players; Pitchers Carmen Cali, Jesse Crain and Kevin Mulvey; Catcher Joe Mauer; Infielders Nick Punto, Matt Tolbert; Outfielders Michael Cuddyer, Garrett Jones and Jason Pridie. Over two dozen businesses also participated by donating raffle items to the event as well as live auction goods. Bowlers had a chance to win gift certificates, memberships and overnight stays with the Planetarium, Imaginarium, SunSplash, Taste of New York, Chesseburger in Paradise, Olive Garden, Total Wine, Cross Creek Country Club, Norman Love's Chocolates, Seaside Inn, Schoolhouse Theater, Fred Astaire Dance Studio, Curves, Downtown Health Club, Getaway Marina, Wok Cuisine, KeyWest Express, The Timbers, Sanibel Grill, Keylime Bistro and the Naples-Ft. Myers Greyhound Track. Each player on the winning team, S.W. Construction, received golf for four & a bowling pin signed by the Twins team! The second place team, Team Mogren, brought home a $40 gift certificate to LeRoy Selmon’s and a bowling pin signed by the Twins team! And Team Skansa came in third with 1,869 points, giving each player on the team a $25.00 gift certificate to Shoeless Joe’s.
